Maja Günthert made her apprenticeship as technician at Hoffmann-LaRoche in Basel and worked in the Pathology Department at Kantonsspital (hospital) in Lucerne from were she moved to the Biochemistry Department at the University of Lausanne and then to the Department of Biology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville USA. In 1986 she joined the Biopharmacy group at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at ETH Zürich and moved in 2009 to EMEZ. Her expertises are confocal laser scanning microscopy and sample preparation for TEM of biological and organic material.
