The 7. EELS / EFTEM workshop will be held from 27. to 29. October in Zürich, Switzerland. You are cordially invited to attend this latest meeting in a series of exciting and stimulating workshops created in 1997. The topics will cover the state-of-the art of EELS and EFTEM for materials science as well as biological applications. It is explicitely intended to attract students, technicians and researchers, who would like to get into with these techniques or to improve their skills herein. I.e. a special focus will be on the practical problems researchers are facing during data acquisition as well as during data analysis.
The program will cover introductory and overview lectures given by invited speakers, oral contributions by participants focusing on specific problems and pitfalls when applying energy filtering techniques, a poster session for participants, and talks by manufacturers of microscopy equipment during the first 1 ½ days. This will be completed by a series of practical courses (basic and advanced sessions) and enough time for discussions and exchange. In the evening of October 27, a conference dinner will give oportunity for informal discussions.
As in the previous meetings the organisation will be kept simple, maintaining the open and flexible character of the event. The meeting is sponsored by the participating companies and national and international microscopy societies of Switzerland, Austria and Germany, therefore no fee will be charged for members of these societies. The meeting is hosted by the Electron Microscopy Cenre of ETH Zürich (EMEZ). It is patronized by the national electron microscopy societies of Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
For members of SSOM, DGE and ASEM the meeting is free of charge. For non-members of an EMS organisation the meeting fee inclusive Social Dinner on Wednesday is 350.- CHF. If an applicant decides to become a member of SSOM, DGE or ASEM the price for the meeting will be reduced to 150.-CHF.
Students pay a reduced fee of 100.-CHF and half is used to generate a member fee for SSOM, DGE or ASEM if they express an interest.
